Hi Family & Friends,
The results of last week’s COVID-19 tests of Porter McGrath (PMG) residents all came back negative this past Saturday. All PMG employees tested negative as well and will continue to test twice a week.
Over the weekend, a resident of Assisted Living tested positive for COVID-19, and line-listing was conducted. The epidemiologist was notified and rapid tests were performed on the Assisted Living staff that came in contact with the resident. One ALF employees tested positive. This employee was not on duty this weekend and was not in contact with anyone at Florida Presbyterian Homes for more than 72-96 hours since symptoms started.
With a positive case, as well as, the high County positivity rate, general visitation ceases unless conducted outside the building. The beauty shop is closed to Assisted Living for two weeks through Jan 27th or until further notice. The Beauty Shop resumes this week for PMG residents, as those residents and staff have tested negative consecutively for two weeks.
The positivity rate for Polk County was 16.5% as of January 2nd. As the rate continues to climb, we ask that you continue to wear a mask, social distance, practice good hand hygiene, and avoid large gatherings.
The next COVID vaccine clinic was today, Jan. 12, 2021. Walgreens is expected to provide a booster to all PMG and AL residents that already had the first vaccine. They will also have a few extra doses to vaccinate residents that did not get their vaccine on December 22nd. After those few residents are vaccinated, we will offer the remaining vaccines to employees that were not vaccinated last month.
Please continue to sign up for visitation using our sign-up link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0d4faaae29a5fac07-fphvisitation. As previously mentioned, general visitation must occur outdoors, weather permitting.
